Abstract (EN)
Objective: Metabolic syndrome, which poses a serious threat to human health, is one of the most important issues that need to be emphasized in recent years. The incidence of metabolic syndrome, which is the leading cause of cardiovascular diseases in our country and all over the world and the leading cause of death, continues to increase day by day. Our study was planned and carried out in Yozgat in order to provide early detection of atherosclerosis and to regulate lipid profile by investigating Lp (a), Apo A1 and Apo B levels in terms of lipid profile and atherosclerosis in patients with metabolic syndrome. Methods: 128 volunteer patients aged between 18-80 years were planned to participate in the study. As a prospective volunteer; Control group with metabolic syndrome (Group-1) and non-metabolic syndrome (Group-2) were included in this study. Blood from these patients was placed in gel biochemistry tubes. Lipid profiles and fasting blood sugars of these patients were studied with routine tests on biochemistry autoanalyser (Abbot C18200) in Biochemistry laboratory. The results were obtained from biochemistry laboratory. Lp (a), Apo A1 and Apo B Tests were kept in the freezer at -20ºC until the study and micro elisa method was studied. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics Standard Concurrent User V 25 (IBM Corp., Armonk, New York, USA) and MedCalc 9.2.0.1. The normal distribution of the numerical variables was evaluated by the Shapiro Wilk normality test and Q-Q graphs. Two independent samples t test was used for numerical variables. One-way covariance analysis was used to compare age-adjusted values. The relationship between numerical variables was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. ROC analysis was used to evaluate LP (a), Apo A1and Apo B variables as diagnostic tests. The probabilities for age-adjusted ROC analysis were calculated using binary logistic regression. A p value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: In our study, Lp (a), Apo A1, Apo B, glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL, HDL and waist circumference values were compared between group-1 (patient) and group-2 (control). The mean age of the patient group was higher than the control age. When corrected according to age variable, LP(a) triglyceride, LDL and waist circumference values of the patient group were statistically higher than the control group values. In our study, Lp (a), Apo-A1, Apo-B, glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL, HDL and waist circumference values were compared between group-1 (patient) and group-2 (control). In the analysis performed without taking into account the variable of Lp(a), Apo A1, Apo B, glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL and waist circumference values were found to be higher than the control group. The difference between the HDL values of the patient group and the control group was not statistically significant. (P = 0.001). When corrected according to age variable, Lp(a) triglyceride, LDL and waist circumference values of the patient group were statistically higher than the control group values. Conclusion: Inthis study significant relationships between metabolic syndrome and increase in LP(a) triglyceride, LDL and waist circumference were found. This significant increases might be interpreted causes of atherosclerosis. Metabolic syndrome and atherosclerosis will be prevented by preventing lifestyle changes or increasing pharmacologically controlled Lp A, triglycerides, LDL and waist circumference in the early period.
