Abstract (EN)
This study aims to an investigation on some geotechnical properties of the anhydrite and gypsum that were collected from vicinity of Hafik district in Sivas region. So as to to evaluate the geotechnical properties of the samples several test methods, which includes frost resistance by using magnesium sulfate, Los Angeles Abrasion Test, Brazilian Tensile Test, Unit Weight and Water Absorption Test, Unconfined Compressive Test were conducted. The field works for geotechnical survey have been caried out the determining the nature of soil characteristics in the region. At this purpose, 7 trial pits had been excavated for collecting disturbed and undisturbed samples which have been subjected to complete the essential laboratory testings at the laboratories. The comperative results between the anhydrite and gypsum were presented and discussed as well. As a result, the test results showed that these minerals could be used for some geotechnical apllications as an supplementary materials or soil improvements may be needed on soils with excess gypsum/anyhdrite structure.
