Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the physical, chemical, and biological analysis of water samples collected from various sources in the İpekyolu district of Van province. The study aims to assess water quality by analyzing samples taken from 25 different water sources in 22 neighborhoods. The parameters examined include pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, saturated oxygen, salinity, total solids, turbidity, heavy metals (such as silver, aluminum, arsenic, copper, chromium, etc.), and fluoride. The samples were collected in HDPE laboratory containers and stored using proper sterilization techniques. The study aimed to identify potential health risks associated with water quality. High concentrations of elements such as arsenic, aluminum, and lead were found in certain areas. Water sources such as Faruksuyu and Karagündüz School exhibited arsenic and lead levels exceeding the limits set by the World Health Organization, indicating that these sources pose risks to human health. Fieldwork observations showed that pH values ranged between 7.47 and 8.37, while some sources exhibited low oxygen levels and high electrical conductivity values. Faruksuyu, in particular, was found to be unsuitable for drinking due to its low dissolved oxygen and high contamination levels. This study highlights the impact of drinking water quality on public health and suggests the need for improvements in certain water sources. It also emphasizes the importance of regular monitoring and the implementation of appropriate water treatment processes to enhance water quality.
