Mediating role of type A personality traits in the effect of work stress on work alienation: Example of organized industrial zone

In this study, in which the mediating role model was tested, the mediating role of type A personality traits in the effect of job stress on work alienation was examined. For this purpose, the subjects of job stress, personality traits and work alienation were examined. Subsequently, some tests and analyzes were conducted to determine whether type A personality traits and dimensions play a mediating role on work alienation. Respectively, the direct effect of job stress on work alienation, the former of job stress on type A personality traits and the effect of type A personality traits on work alienation were tested. In the last stage, it was investigated whether type A personality traits mediated work alienation in job stress. Within the scope of the research, a questionnaire was applied to the employees in the Isparta Süleyman Demirel Organized Industrial Zone with the convenience sampling method. Data were collected from 443 employees with the survey application. With the help of this collected data, personality types and dimensions and the degree of job stress and work alienation were tried to be determined. The findings revealed that there was an increase in the rate of work alienation with the increase in job stress. Research findings revealed that type A personality traits play a partial mediating role in the relationship between job stress and work alienation. The results of the research show that businesses can take various initiatives to minimize the work stress and job alienation that negatively affects the productivity of the employees. For this purpose, initiatives such as the analysis of the personality structures of the employees, the re-determination of the personnel selection criteria in recruitment, and the development of a new employee training model will enable them to increase the efficiency of the business.
