The effect of emotional intelligence degrees upon problem solving skills in business life

The aim of the study is to examine the effect of emotional intelligence competence and solving problems that employees meet. In this regard, 73 questions about emotional intelligence and problem solving were asked to 135 white collar working in several departments of two fair and large scaled firms. At the first phase of this study, 29 questions of problem solving part and 44 questions of emotional intelligence part were generally examined by factor analysis. In this examination, it was found that emotional intelligence has a concrete effect on problem solving. With the light of this finding, emotional intelligence skills such as problem solving at work, cognitive technics, self-control, self-conciousness, empathy, attentiveness, sense of belonging, positive attitude, flexibility, social skills, eagerness to learn, motivation, high ego were examined one by one. At factor analysis which was made to find the contribution of cognitive technics to problem solving, it was found that cognitive technics or profession don't have any effect on problem solving, on the contrary, emotional intelligence skills have an effect on problem solving at work.
