The effect of the perception of loneliness in business life on organizational alienation and organizational communication

Perception of loneliness in business life, organizational alienation and organizational communication concepts are important situations that employees may encounter in business life. A person who begins to experience loneliness for some reasons within the organization he works for may also begin to alienate himself from the organization over time due to the effect of loneliness. However, the feeling of loneliness experienced by a person in his business life also affects his organizational communication. This study aimed to investigate the impact of loneliness in business life on organizational alienation and organizational communication of hotel employees.For this purpose, the data of the study was obtained by applying the survey method to 382 hotel employees, which constitute the sample of the study. The data of the study were collected using the Loneliness in Business Life Scale, Organizational Alienation Scale and Organizational Communication Scale included in the survey. Data were analyzed with SPSS 25 program. Looking at the results of the analysis, it was determined that there was a statistically significant relationship between loneliness in business life and its sub-dimensions, organizational alienation and its sub-dimensions and organizational communication, while loneliness in business life had a positive significant effect on organizational alienation, and the sub-dimensions of loneliness in business life were also sub-dimensions of organizational alienation. It was concluded that it had a positive and significant effect on the dimensions. When we look at the effect of loneliness and its sub-dimensions on organizational communication in business life, it has been determined that it has a significant and positive effect.Looking at the Anova and T-test results regarding demographic variables, it was determined that there were significant differences in the loneliness levels of employees in business life in the context of marital status, educational status and position. It has been determined that there are significant differences in organizational alienation levels in terms of age, educational status, position and working time. Finally, it was determined that there were significant differences in organizational communication levels in the context of marital status, educational status and position.This study is unique in that the issues of loneliness in business life, organizational alienation and organizational communication are studied together for the first time.
