Abstract (EN)

Countries recently encounter various problems in their economic activities and develop different struggle mechanisms to deal with these problems. The unemployment, underemployment and inadequate employment, inability to train semi-qualified and qualified labor force required by the economy are among the most important problems of underdeveloped and developing countries. Countries implement certain policies in order to prevent these problems causing great damage to economic and social life. In many countries, employmentpromoting programs are applied to dismiss inequalities in social justice and income distribution. On-the-job training program has found significant application areas in recent years which is one of the most influential means of the active employment policy and is simultaneously aiming to solve problems of semi-qualified and qualified labor force needed by firms and unemployment problem in the current economic condition through Turkish Employment Agency (TEA). This study aims to determine whether the program is functioning properly by analyzing the current status of the on-the-job training program in the context of the available data. In this study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the managers of the companies in the sample of Antalya Region where on-the-job training program was applied. By analyzing the data obtained at the end of the research, the effect of on-the-job training program on employment are revealed as determining whether the program functions in accordance with its purpose and what are the deficiencies and faults in the implementation of the program.
