The effects of cooperative learning method, Jigsaw technique, in teaching computert literacy on the academic achievement and retention

The effect of cooperative learning in teaching computer literacy on theacademic achievement and retention was investigated in this research.This research was carried out with sixth grade students in governmentprimary school in 2004-2005. The research sample was consisted of 55 studentswhich 33 of them assign to the experiment group and the rest of them to thecontrol group randomly. Traditional instructional method was applied to thecontrol group; on the other hand, jigsaw technique which is one of the techniquesof cooperative mastery learning method, was applied onto the experiment group.At the end of research, it is found that, there is a significant difference inacademic achievement between experiment group and control group in favour ofexperiment group.
