The effects of cooperative learning on the rhythm skills and perceptions of self-efficacy of the fourth class students in the primary school music couse.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of cooperative learning on students' perception of the rhythm skills and self-efficacy in elemantary 4th grade in the Music lesson. Quasi - experimental design with pre-test and post-test method was used in this research. The investigation was carried out in the class 22 students in experimental group and 22 students in control group in the Spring Term 2014-2015 school years in Menemen town, İzmir. "Rhythmic Self-Efficacy Scale","Rhythmic Achievement Test", "Rhythm Skills Observing Form" which had been developed by researcher were used as data collection tools. The study was applied in 10 weeks and "Rhythmic Self-Efficacy Scale","Rhythmic Achievement Test", "Rhythm Skills Observing Form" were used as both pre-test and post-test. Gathered data from students were analysed by SPSS 15 softwere. In the process of data analysis, skewness – kurtosis statistics, independent sample t-test, paired samples t- test were used. The study showed that there were significant differences between cooperative learning with learning together techniques in experimental group and in control group. There were significant difference in the control group performed the traditional learning method in terms of post-test rhythmic achievement test. There was significant differences regarding rhythmic self efficacy perception between experimental and control group compared post-test points. In the experimental group the students rhythm skills between the pre-test and post-test points observation were significant. Cooperative learning method was an effective method for performing the rhythm skills. As a result of this study it was concluded that cooperative learning in music lesson should have been used as developing students' rhythm skills in theory and also practice and rhythmic self-efficacy. Therefore it was suggested that cooperative learning should have been provided multi - benefit for the students in Music lesson.
