Abstract (EN)
The purpose of the present research is to investigate effects of cooperative learning and traditional methods on 5th graders' Social Studies achievement, self- concept and attitudes and Social Studies achievement is relation to gender. Research was conducted on a control group and two experimental groups. Mean, Standart Deviation, Analysis of Variance, Analysis of Covariance, Scheffee Test and t Test were utilized in data analysis. Research results indicate that cooperative learning method is more effective than traditional methods on Social Studies achievement. It has also been found out that the effects of the cooperative learning and traditional methods in primary school Social Studies do not differ significantly according to studens' gender. Learning Together method is more effective than traditional methods on Social Studies achievement, self- concept and attitude.
