Abstract (EN)
This study deals with the rites of passage (birth-marriage-death) customs and beliefs of the people living in Iskilip district of Çorum province. In the study, the customs, beliefs, rituals and practices determined by the people of Iskilip for the individual who has passed from one period to another, that is, for the individual located on the threshold between the old and the new, are discussed and discussed; The link established between public life and rites of passage is revealed. At the same time, the elements living in the folk culture of Iskilip, which has a unique cultural background due to its closed society feature, are guaranteed in writing. The aim of our study is to compile, analyse and analyse the beliefs and practices related to the rites of passage of our research area with a folkloric approach. The research consists of two parts as theory and practice. In the study based on field research, observation and interview techniques were used to compile rituals, customs, and beliefs. At the same time, emic and ethical methods were used together to make the study more objective. Our work consists of four parts. In the first part of the research, İskilip; It is introduced in terms of history, geography, vegetation and population. Information is given about social norms and rituals, which are the essential elements of folk culture, and the theoretical framework of the rites of passage is determined. In the second part of the study, the data related to birth, marriage in the third part and death in the fourth part of the study were presented and evaluated. In the conclusion part, the general analysis of the study was made.
