Abstract (EN)

Family, which is the cornerstone of society, is an institution that makes up clans, nations and states. The family is attributed great importance in Islam as it is in many religions. The basic principle is that the family is established and maintained in a healthy way. However, it is not always as expected and the family institution might end in different ways. In this thesis, we tried to focus on the legal reasons for ending the family institution. In this thesis, the opinions of the four sunni sects were emphasized and from time to time different opinions and reasons were given between the sects. While examining the reasons for divorce, which is the title of our thesis, the importance of family and marriage was emphasized in the first part after the introduction section and measures to prevent divorce were mentioned. In the second part, the types and reasons for divorce were discussed by adhering to current and classical sources. And in the conclusion section, a general evaluation of our study was made. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the value that Islamic Law gives to the importance of family and marriage and to examine what should be considered in cases where family unity should end and what the reasons for divorce are.
