Romanticism in Islamist Turkish poetry

Romanticism, in addition to being an art movement, has become an attitude, approach or way of feeling in time with its political and philosophical aspects. This situation, surpassing the process in which romanticism was accepted as a trend, revealed the idea that it had profound effects on various periods or generations in almost every country. Romanticism, which is basically a movement originating from England, Germany and France, has also seen artistic, political and philosophical effects in Turkey. In this respect, the existence of a "Turkish romanticism" has also been revealed in studies on the subject. In this study, Islamist Turkish poetry was examined in terms of romanticism. Mehmet Akif, the pioneer poet of Islamism, which emerged as an intellectual movement in the Second Constitutional Era, and the pioneer poets of the Republic Era Islamism, Necip Fazıl, Sezai Karakoç and İsmet Özel, are the names in the focus of the study. In the introduction, there is information about the definition of Islamism, its birth, historical development and the ideological ideas of the determined poets. In the first chapter, the definition of romanticism, its stages of formation, general aspects and various types are discussed. In the second part, the reflections of romanticism in Turkey are given and the general characteristic of Islamist romanticism is explained. In the third chapter, the poems of Islamic poets were analyzed in terms of romanticism, and their romantic aspects were interpreted in literary, political and philosophical terms.
