Web adoption models of firms: A study on firms in Gaziantep Orgnized Industrial Zone

Abstract (EN)

In today?s world, the use of Internet technologies has increased tremendously and they have become indispensible tools for people as well as businesses. Web technologies give firms several advantages like selling over the Internet, performing basic marketing functions and gaining competitive advantage. But, companies have differing levels of web adoption. While some firms use web technologies just to access basic information and present some information, others use web to sell their products. In this study, the web adoption levels of firms located in Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone were researched. As a result of the study, it was found that firm size, competitive advantage and web adoption levels were related but there wasn?t a relationship between firm strategy and web adoption level. Also, some of the reasons for firms not adopting web at a satisfactory level were revealed. Suggestions are provided for manufacturing firms and web developer firms
