Abstract (EN)

A great deal of efficiency and productivity increase has been achieved in the production processes through implementation of new developments in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) during the last quarter of the century. These developments have remarkable opportunities for the enterprises whose advertising and marketing budgets are relatively limited.Implementation of e-commerce by the enterprises, the most dynamic components of an economy, is expected to have significant impacts on the future of the country. Small and medium sized enterprises that have an important position in country economy which may arrive to a position that can compete thanks to its e-commerce practice with other big firms both in country and out of country. By means of internet they may abolish the firms? borders in Access to internal and overseas markets.The results reveal that the firms are aware of the fact that e-commerce would increase the speedof business, lowers the cost, give competitive advantage, enable to reach the customers easily and expand the markets and that B2B and B2C e-commerce and the use of ICTs are more consciousness in relatively bigger (in terms of capital, revenue and employment) and exporting firms.In this thesis the necessity of the enterprises to use Electronic Commerce is explicitly demonstrated. The importance of the Electronic Commerce especially for the enterprises is illustrated. Benefits of entering a new market and whatenterprises need to do to harvest these benefits have been shown. General structure and characteristics of enterprises are defined together with the history of Electronic Commerce, along with its advantages. The requirements that enterprises should possess in their transition to Electronic Commerce, and how their organizational structure and processes of supply chain should operate are examined. The process of the transition to Electronic Commerce and the challenges a enterprise could face during such a transition are also examined in this thesis. Lastly two enterprises utilizing Electronic Commerce are presented and through these six examples, the necessity of the transition of the enterprises to Electronic Commerce and the challenges that could be faced during this transition are once more manifested.
