Citizen satisfaction assessment of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for smart transportation applications

Smart city applications have a very important place for the future of cities. This research has been carried out on smart city applications, information and communication technologies supported smart transportation applications. With this study, citizens living in the province of Istanbul from İBB smart transportation applications; It is aimed to determine citizen satisfaction and evaluations for three smart transportation applications, namely İSPARK (Smart Parking Services), İBB Mobile Traffic (Traffic Information Application) and Intelligent Traffic Signaling Systems. The sub-objectives of the research are to determine whether the satisfaction evaluations of the citizens for smart applications differ according to the smart application type and to determine whether the citizen satisfaction evaluations for the three transportation applications differ according to the demographic characteristics. A sample size of 320 people was reached with the online survey method in the data collection process to measure the citizen satisfaction assessment for the smart transportation applications of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The implementation was carried out between September 2021 and December 2021. The obtained data were analyzed with the SPSS package program. According to the findings; Citizens participating in the research are satisfied with the İBB Mobile Traffic application at a rate of 76.4%, for Smart Traffic Signaling Systems at a rate of 70.8%, and for ISPARK Smart Parking Services at a rate of 64.2%. In addition, it has been determined that the satisfaction evaluations of citizens regarding İBB Smart transportation applications do not show a significant difference according to gender, age, marital status and educational status, but show a significant differentiation according to monthly income and occupation. Finally, it has been determined that the satisfaction evaluations of the citizens for smart applications show a significant differentiation according to the smart application type.
