Job satisfaction level of university teaching staff working for vocational schools of foundation universities in İstanbul

The main purpose of this study was to determine general, internal and external job satisfaction levels of the university teaching staff working for vocational schools of foundation universities in İstanbul. The research was carried out at 7 foundation universities in İstanbul. Bahçeşehir, Fatih, Kadir Has, Kültür, Bilgi, Beykent and İstanbul Commerce were the selected universities included in the study. Data of the study were gathered from 149 full time lecturers working for those universities cited above. Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) consisting of 20 items was used to obtain the data for the study. Participants? responses were analysed by a statistical analysis program called SPSS. To analyse the results, some statistical techniques like mean,standart deviation, t-test, one way anova and LSD test were applied. At the end of the study, it has been found that general as well as internal and external job satisfaction levels of university teaching staff working for vocational school of foundation universities are adequately high. Besides, there is a statistically significant difference between internal and external job satisfaction levels of the university teaching staff. In the stuy, the relationship between university teaching staff?s job satisfaction levels and individual variables were also investigated. According to the analysis of the study, there is no statistically meaningful difference between the university teaching staff?s gender, marital status and years of experience at work. In contrast to these variables, there is a significant difference between age and university teaching staff?s job satisfaction level both internal and external. Besides, the study has shown that education level statistically affects university teaching staff?s external job satisfaction level.
