Investigation of artificial intelligence supported ChatGPT usage among Istanbul Nisantasi University undergraduate students in the context of Delone and McLean information systems success model

This study examined the perceived success of ChatGPT by the students of Istanbul Nişantaşı University based on Delone and McLean Information Systems Success Model. In this mixed model study, quantitative data were collected from 600 students using a seven-point Likert scale and evaluated by factor analysis and structural equation modeling in SPSS and IBM Amos. Qualitative data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with 18 students and analyzed with Maxqda Qualitative Analysis program. Structural equation modeling showed that service quality and user satisfaction strongly supported intention to use ChatGPT and usage, system quality had no effect on usage, and information quality was not related to usage and intention to use. Usage has a limited effect on net benefit, while intention to use strongly increases net benefit. Qualitative findings revealed that system quality increased satisfaction through quick responses, but the lack of reliability and accuracy in information quality limited usage. Participants emphasized that service quality offers practicality, while net benefit is characterized by time savings. The study suggests explanatory mechanisms for ChatGPT's information and system quality improvements, greater transparency, personalization and response generation processes.
