Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to conceptualize the romantic relationships, one of the roles of workplace emotions, with the employees? perceptions and evaluations. It also aims to determine the motives which the individuals in romantic relationships perceive while experiencing workplace romance, the behavioral changes of those in a romantic relationships, positive and negative effects of such relationships on the organization and to evaluate managerial interventions in workplace romance. Besides, individual reactions of employees in a social interaction against workplace romance are presented as a whole together with romantic relationships at workplace. A literature overview has been carried out on factors triggering the formation of love and attractiveness, theories of romance, antecedents, dynamics and results of romantic relationships at workplace in the scope of the thesis. In the frame of the findings obtained through the literature study. Some explanations regarding romance at workplace were made in the first and second chapters of the thesis. In the study, a questionnaire was conducted on 252 employees (managers, supervisors, and coworker) working in 14 five star hotels in Lara-Kundu Region Antalya. Using this questionnaire it is aimed to determine the perceptions of accommodation sector employees of romantic relationships on workplace romance, managerial interventions, behavioral changes and the effects of such relationships on the organization. In the light of the findings, the existence of an organizational structure, where some liberal tendencies are observed, which still has a traditional nature, is specified; and it has been shown that romantic relationships have effects on both those having the relationship and the other employees and also on the organization itself. Also, some findings were revealed as to the perceptions of employees on romantic relationships and managerial interventions
