Occupational health and safety applications at fire brigades: Istanbul Bağcılar Fire Brigade Group Directorship as an example

The importance for occupational healt and Safety applications is increasing nowadays due to increase in work accidents and diseases caused by work conditions. Different work accidents in different work areas and different diseases caused by work conditions require different risk analyses. Changing conditions and accidents happened require both employers, employees and governments to evaluate occupational health and safety applications and impose different liabilities to both parties. For this reason, legal regulations regarding this topic, and cautions to be taken by both employees and employers have great importance. In this study, importance of occupational health and safety applications at fire brigades is addressed. Potential accidents, dangerous events which can take place at Turkish fire brigade stations and during fire extinguishing is analysed by the context of occupational health and safety applications. Moreover, risks and diseases caused by work, precautions taken regarding the topic is evaluated in terms of Occupational Health and Safety Law (Law No: 6331). In this context, occupational healt and Safety applications at Istanbul Bağcılar Fire Brigade Group Directorship is examined according to legal regulations and applications.
