Abstract (EN)
Turkish Calligraphy samples are generally seen as inscriptions in architectural structures. Inscriptions, according to most widespread acceptance, points out all writings taking part in buildings on stone, brick, marble, china, wooden, plaster, metal what ever itscontent is. Besides general definition, inscription is a Notion which can be divided into subgroups depending on its function and specific writings of the place where it is found. Besides construction and repair inscriptions containing the information and data of belonging of thework, also including information about by whom, when and why it was built, what kind of modification and repair procedures it has had, also some articles such as Qur'anic verses, hadith, proverb, esma-i hüsna..etc. have extensively been used. These take place in construction inscription, they are also often seen on detached altar, pulpit or other structural elemets even on tombstone. Furthermore, the whole writings on architectural Works are religional, historical, cultural, economic and sociological indicators of that work. Therefore, all writings which take place in our study are all defined as inscription. In historical mosques at the center of İzmir, a great deal of hadith and Qur'anic verses examples which shows differences in font type and design. In this study Qur'anic verses and hadith on calligraphy samples will be held according to font properties. Here hadith in six mosques belonging to Ottoman and principalities period (Hisar, Kemeraltı , Başdurak, Kestanepazarı,Yalı, Salepçioğlu, Birgi ) will be studied according to the font properties. Studied calligraphy samples are seen to have been made with celi sülüs calligraphy wood and marble carving. Writings are flat or stacked with regard to the composition.Some of the inscriptions remained in the marble colour, some of them are in gold foil. Ground colour of some of the foil inscriptions are red, some are black and some are colourless. The font properties used in this inscriptions will be presented in the writing-place relationship.
