Abstract (EN)

This study is an attempt to elucidate the seasonality in the role of Gediz River, as a source, by tracing the concentration of particle and dissolved loads across the salinity gradient towards the outer section of the İzmir Bay in 2004 and 2005. Particle and dissolved parameters of nutrients (C, N, P, Si) and Chl-a and total suspended matter were measured and evaluated. As a conclusion, the river mouth usually seems to be acting as a trap rather than a source. Thus the river?s impact has been observed within the inshore zone and particularly on Homa Lagoon along the southern shoreline.
