Abstract (EN)
This study was carried out in the four subregion along the costline between Uckuyular Ferry Port and Bostanli Ferry Port. Various questions were asked to amateur fishermen through a survey. The ages, educational status and professional experiences were regionally of the amateur fishermen were evaluated. Also the information on how long they have fished in Izmir Bay, their fishing frequency, the season preference, fishing duration and timing in a day were determined. In study the variety and amount of the fishes caught were found out and their fluctutions those per region were demonstrated. Also information on how fishes are exploited and their effects on the information fishermens health were recorded.Survey consist of twenty four questions was applied to two hundred fishermen. Survey usually was carried out between six p.m. and twenty three o?clock at weekends. Fifty amateur fishermen were interviewed for each field and season, Usually the fishermen who had hunted were preferred and the data of the amount of fish they had hunted were achieved by using weigher.The types of the fishhooks,varieties of fishbaits , fishing licences and the amateur fishermen is knowledge on the legal regulations in Izmir Bay were determined in the study.Keywords: İzmir bay, ameteur fishermen, fisheries, fishhook, fishing time
