Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on the growth and reproduction of the bogue ( Boops boops, L., 1758 ) in Izmir Bay. 1065 samples, collected during July 1996-May 1997, were studied. Von Bertalanfy Growth equation was described as: 1^=34,55. e^»15*1*1.7182). Relationships between total length and fork length were calculated as Y=-0,0741+ 1,185*X for males, Y=- 0,4856+l,1252*X for females, Y =-1,8985 +1,401*X for all samples. Growth of the bogue was isometric. Total mortality of the bogue was 1,70, natural mortality is 0,39, fishing mortality was 1,32. Reproduction occured when surface temperature was 12-13 °C in march and april 1997. Sex ratio was calculated as 1:0,75. The "hydrated oocyt method" used for the estimation of the batch fecundity. Batch fecundity were different in march from april. Relationships between batch fecundity and total length were described as: Y= -77,75 + 19,67*X for march, Y= -5800 +43,09*X for april.
