Abstract (EN)
Postmodernism is the name of the wide-ranging cultural movment involving disbelief against the principles on which Western thought and communal living are predicated. Postmodernism can be thought as the continuation of a long-lasting philosophical tradition of sceptisim. It can be said that postmodernism, in general, is a critical protest against the progressive conception of history and correspondingly against the progressive conception of history and correspondingly against the conception of knowledge. According to the postmodernist understanding, modernism couldn't achieve the Enlightenment goals promised and instead of these goals, modernism took an opperessive and authouritative form. For this reason, philosophers described as postmodern have denied or approached with suspicion against to all kinds of ''truth'' speech. Thus, it is thought that the trust felt against ''grand narratives'' has been lost. For Jean Baudrillard, with this term, reality underwent a major change. Jean Baudrillard emphasizes that the reality perceived today is nothing more than a ''simulation''. To define this situation, he uses the term ''hyper-reality''. For Baudrillard, with hyper-reality, the distinction between image and reality has disappeared. In other words, hyper-reality includes models which are ''realer'' than ''real'' and these models have been spreading via the mass media.
