Abstract (EN)
This thesis entitled "Qādī Abd al-Jabbār's Defending of Reflection (Naẓar)" discusses the position of the reflection (naẓar) method, which forms the basis of inferential (istidlālī) knowledge, in Qādī Abd al-Jabbār's understanding of knowledge. In the first chapter of the study, a brief information was given about the subject of knowledge and the reflection (naẓar) method. In this regard, features of reflection (naẓar) and definitions put forward about knowledge itself and and the ways knowledge is classified are explained. In addition, other methods of obtaining knowledge, which are offered as an alternative to the method of reflection (naẓar), and the reasons why these methods are considered invalid are mentioned. In order to make the second chapter of this thesis more comprehensible, Qādī Abd al-Jabbār's understanding of reflection (naẓar) is briefly touched upon. In the second chapter, objections concerning the possibility of reflection (naẓar), its forming of knowledge and the nature of knowledge resulted from it and Qādī Abd al-Jabbār's responds to these objections are discussed in detail.
