Abstract (EN)

Concepts about women's labor and women's domestic labor have been extensively discussed since the second half of the last century. In parallel to the discussions around the world, in Turkey, many approaches have arisen that discuss women's "secondary" position within the framework of women's labor and related concepts. Some of these approaches suggest that the way women can get rid of the current disadvantage is to make their invisible / unrequited labor visible. Accordingly, despite their enormous labor both non-domestic and domestic, a substantial part of women's labor, especially the domestic labor, is always confiscated in the male-centered order. This causes women to be an oppressed class. In Turkey, Gulnar Acar-Savran, with her "socialist-feminist" approach, focuses on women's labor problems and she becomes prominent among those aiming to make visible the invisible women's labor. This thesis study focuses on women's labor and the problem of invisibility of women's domestic labor. In this context, general concepst of women's labor debates, and circumstances of women's labor and impacts of the problem in Turkey, and the Acar-Savran's approach, which affects many feminist studies with the theoretical and political thoughts and solutions it offers, are put forward in this study. By this way, this thesis study aims to show circumstances of women's labor in Turkey and to handle the problem of invisibility of women's domestic labor in the context of Turkey and to reveal the thoughts and suggestions of Acar-Savran's feminist approach on this issue.
