Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the views of women education principals' difficulties and strategies who work in Izmir. The study was carried out phenomenologic method within the framework of qualitative research design. In the data collection process of the research, a semi-structured interview form prepared for the study was used. As a result of the interviews, descriptive analysis was made, codes were determined, themes and categories were created. As a result of the analyzed data, it is assumed that some part of the women managers chose to be administrators themselves, but some part of the women managers haven't planned their positions. Women managers reported that they were blocked mostly because of their social roles in the process of rising. Female managers stated that they are not equal with male managers due to social roles. Female managers expressed that they take the example of a women manager whom they encountered in their professional lives, as a role model and there are not enough women in senior management positions. They stated that; the intensity of working hours, gender discrimination, MEB promotion criteria and workload are the reasons for that. According to the participants, there should be changes in the family, changes in the community structure, positive discrimination, senior management support and tangible improvements.
