A survey on Maraş bracelet one of the traditional jewelery of Kahramanmaraş province

At the present time, reductions of jewelries, which are traditional production, introduce the requirement of studies on this issue.In this study, traditional production, motif properties, decoration techniques of Maraş bracelet that is traditional jewelry of Kahramanmaraş province, tools and materials used in production of the bracelet and characteristics of the craftsmen who are embroiderer of gold are investigated.In the research, opinions of the craftsmen, who live in town center of Kahramanmaraş, are asked. Entire steps from pulling the wire to shining in traditional production of Maraş bracelet in the region are documented by taking photos. A survey form is prepared and conducted to Maraş bracelet craftsmen in town center of Kahramanmaraş. Demographic features, working environment, situation related to the craft of the craftsmen are determined by evaluating the information obtained by the survey.
