Özet (EN)

The purpose of this research is to determine the consumption of animal originated food products and the effect of income to the consumption in K.Maraş. The research material is the data gathered by a survey application conducted on 192 families living in urban areas of K.Maraş Province during the dates between October- November 1996. Data related to income, consumption and expenditure of families cover September 1996. In the research area, in September 1996, 5.756.000 TL which covers 12.1 % of the average family income spent for the consumption of animal originated food products. This expenditure consists of 24.2 % for red meat, 11.1 % for white meat, 8.1 % for meat products, 10.2% for milk, 37.2% for dairy products, 9.2 % for egss that were spent by family. Income-expenditure elasticity is 0.62 for beef meat, 0.63 for sheep meat, 0.65 for goat meat, 0.73 for poultry meat, 0.97 for fish meat, 1.72 for meat products, 0.76 for milk, 0.37 for yoghurt, 0.96 for butter, for 1.09 cheese, 0.56 for ice cream and 0.22 for eggs. According to the results of this research, it was determined that the more income the surveyed families have, the more amount of animal food products consumed.
