Abstract (EN)
Urban identity is an important factor in the separation of the natural and built environment, buildings, indoor and outdoor spaces and cities in general. It is the meaningful integrity that makes a city that city. Each of the characteristics that are effective in the formation of urban identity is important in terms of urban image, urban perception and meaning. Along with the economic, technological and social developments in the last fifty years, cities have experienced a rapid change and transformation in terms of spatial and social aspects. This change turns cities into an increasingly similar space. Thus, the ground of the loss of effective features, attractiveness and distinctive identity features of the cities over time. In this context, it is aimed to present spatial strategy suggestions that can be effective in protecting and strengthening the identity by examining the characteristics that affect the urban identity positively or negatively in the examples of the city of Kahramanmaraş. The study was carried out in four basic stages: a) Study and interpretation of studies on the subject in the research area and similar cities, b) Spatial analysis in the study area, c) Determining the image, perception and meaning evaluations of the people and relationship analysis with user research, d) It includes the creation of spatial and perceptual maps and the development of suggestions for the protection and strengthening of identity in the new development areas of the city or in the city or in the cities of similar regions. The numerical data and working method that make up the study will be able to form a model for similar studies and studies to be carried out in different cities.
