A study on the demographic factors affecting the leadership expectation in the state agency :Adana Metropolitan Municipality sample

Leadership is a concept that has always been studied and investigated on without the loss of its value. It is being observed that the need of a leader in organizations is growing. Today, a level of the need of leader among workers belong in every generation type differs due to changes and developments in work life. Correspondingly, evaluation of members of Y generation expectations from leadership style becomes a necessity due to the expectation differences among generations. In this study, demographic information from members of Y generation working in public institutions is collected in the aim of enhancing public institutions management quality. The study has done by supports of 226 workers from Adana Metropolitan Municipality and the department of Water and Severage Authority in Adana Metropolitan Municipality. 5 questions in Demographic Info Form and 30 questions of Leadearship Practices Inventory are used. After Data collected is transfered to electronic environment, it is analized by a statistical package program of SPSS 22.0. Frequency distributions are obtained and t test and one way analysis of varience are applied for independent variables. As a result of this study, there is a meaningful difference between leadership style expectation and education that is graduate employees and associate degree graduate emloyees.
