Abstract (EN)
Blood banking service has a vital importance for human health. Expectations from blood banking are availability of the requested products and to respond the demand in time. In the Central Mediterranean Regional Blood Center's blood distribution network, hospitals demand for blood products from the blood center. Central Mediterranean region has a too large area to be managed from a single center. In this study, in order to solve problems caused by the central structure, a new system is proposed. Central Mediterranean Regional Blood Center will be chosen as the main center and with some of hospitals opening as the distribution center, other hospitals in the region service from newly opened distribution centers will be provided. For this, the proposed model will solve the number and location of optimal distribution centers, which distribution centers will be assigned to hospitals and shipment routes from distribution centers to hospitals as identifying the problem. Thus, the confidence to the Turkish Red Crescent will increase, demands will be responded quickly and also, the cost of meeting on demand will be minimized.
