Abstract (EN)

Aim: At the follow-up of a cancer which is a health problem with life-threatening, early detection of metastases is important. Bone scintigraphy in detecting bone metastases of cancers is providing important information and preferred method. In this study, in the patients with cancer we detected bone metastases with bone scintigraphy; we aimed to show the accordance of the bone specific alkaline phosphatase and total alkaline phosphatase values with bone scintigraphy findings.Material-Methods: Pathologically diagnosed 92 patients with cancer were taken routine bone scintigraphy with Tc-99m HDP. Patients were studied values of bone specific alkaline phosphatase and total alkaline phosphatase.Findings: We have detected bone metastases 54 of ninety-two patients in bone scintigraphy, we did not detect metastases in 38 of 92 patients. We have found significant difference in values of bone specific alkaline phosphatase and total alkaline phosphatase between the group of patients detected bone metastasis and group of patients not detected bone metastases (p<0.001). However, in 25 of 54 patients detected bone metastases bone specific alkaline phosphatase and in 23 of 54 patients total alkaline phosphatase values were within normal limits. Results: In our study, in determining of bone metastasis we found the specificity of total and bone specific ALP values were high in the patients with cancer (%89.4 and %92.1). However, in the detection of bone metastases bone specific alkaline phosphatase can not be expected to replace with bone scintigraphy. Bone scintigraphy in patients with normal findings is available viewing time for the next determination the sudden rise of blood values can provide an early programming of scintigraphic study.
