Abstract (EN)

Coating and lamination processes are the production of methods which lead due to the functional properties and technical performances rather than their aesthetic properties or appearance that they provide. Coated or laminated fabrics have several end-uses changing from agrotech to medtech, from hometech to protective clothes. The functional properties and the performances of fabrics produced by these production methods, vary with coating resin, production method, surface structure and general properties of fabric. In the context of this study, general knowledge about coating and lamination production methods, end-uses of products and the performance tests of coated and laminated fabrics are given and the mechanical properties of coated woven fabrics for outerwear are examined. For this purpose, coated fabrics are produced with two different coating material applied to two base cotton fabrics with different structural properties by using various coating techniques with systematically changed process parameters. Then the physical and mechanical properties like mass, thickness, air permeability, abrasion, bending rigidity, breaking strength and elongation, tear strength, bursting strength are determined by carrying out the tests. According to the results, the effect of the coating to the base fabrics is determined. The effects of coating parameters on mechanical properties of coated fabrics are statistically evaluated.
