Abstract (EN)
Visual arts education, which is included in many fields of art, can be considered as the reflection of art on education. Character design, which is included in the department of visual arts and seen not only in a book but also in cartoons, advertisements as a representation of a brand, games, etc., has become an eye-catching and interesting area/subject with its original designs. Character design, which has become the center of attention of our lives, can give the impression that it is designed with simple lines and coloring, and in fact, it is necessary to pay attention to many details in order to appeal to the society, which is challenging and tiring to design in processes such as silhouette, form, costume, accessories, color. It is also possible to encounter a lot of difficulties and temporal problems in the design process training of the character. Tronie type of work, which can reduce these negative situations and conditions and offer a different alternative, can be used. The Tronie type of work is the design of tronie ambiguous people, that is, imaginary persons, environments, costumes and exaggerated facial expressions, which were used as an educational tool at the time of its emergence and called exaggerated facial expressions in the simplest sense, with original thoughts. With this definition, tronie has opened a new door to character design education, which can be said to be the different working technique and expression of character design in ancient times. The similarity of character design and tronie work type is aimed to eliminate difficult, tiring and time-wasting by using the tronie work type in character design, and in fact, the tornie work type can be used in character design education. In this direction, literature review and action research were used in the research qualitative research. A total of 30 students, including the 3rd and 4th grade students of Diyarbakır Dicle University, Ziya Gökalp Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education, Painting, Business Teaching, Graphic Design Main Art Workshop, and 3rd and 4th grade students of the Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Visual Arts, Graphic Design Main Art, were selected and applied. The application was carried out in two weeks (6+6 course hours) in the Department of Visual Arts, Faculty of Art and Design, Dicle University, and in two weeks (5+5 course hours) in the Department of Fine Arts Education, Department of Fine Arts Education, Ziya Gökalp Faculty of Education. Then, the character designs that they would design according to the character design education they had previously designed or learned were collected for the students studying in the 3rd and 4th grades, and then the data obtained with a semi-structured interview form were collected to learn the opinions of the students and the artistic works they created by designing this character design with the tornie study type. The collected findings were analyzed by descriptive and content analysis, which is one of the qualitative data analysis methods. As a result of the analysis of the findings obtained in line with the research, there was no difference in meaning between character farming and tronie study type, and it was concluded that while designing the characters with the tronie study type, mostly the students were not tired, they were faster, at the same time, the facial expressions that should be in the character became clear, the stasis decreased, their lack of original thinking increased, and most importantly, the loss of time decreased. Based on these results, it was concluded that the tornie study type can be used in character design education, as the students preferred to use the tronie study type in their character designs. In line with the results obtained, the research not only brought innovation and development to character design education, but also enriched the literature by presenting a new topic in scientific research. In addition, it has made significant contributions to society, science and art by offering ideas and suggestions that will open the door to different researches.
