Research on effects of differentfertilizer aplications on yield and botanical composition of a pasture in Demiryurt village of Karaman province

This research was conducted to study botanical composition and to determine the effetcs of different nitrogen and phosphor doses on the yield and botanical composition of a pasture in Demiryurt Village of Karaman province during the vegetation period of 2007-2008. In the fertilization experiment, five different doses (0, 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10 kg/da) of nitrogen and three different doses (0, 5 and 10 kg/da) of phosphor were evaluated. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications.Results of the research showed that plant cover percentage of the pasture was 60.58 %. Percentages of the grasses, legumes and the plants from the other families in the area were 70.96 %, 0.55 % and 28.48 %, respectivelly. 26 species of the 23 genus from 12 plant families were determined in the vegetation. Results of the fertilization experiment showed that nitrogen and phosphorus doses evaluated did not affect the yield and the botanical composition of the pasture. From the results of the study, it was concluded that effectiveness of fertilization for a pasture is depended on the rainfall received as well as water content of the soil of pasture.Key Words: Pasture, Vegetation, Nitrogen, Phosphor, Hay yield.
