Özet (EN)

This work on which we study Turkish Orthodox Karamanians also called as Karamanian Greek, Anatolian Greek, Anatolian Christian is aimed to present their historical development process beginning from their root of descent, the religion, their cultural and traditional features, the language structure they speak, their educational activities, their position in the Turkish World and the difficulties they experienced during the barter to Greece. The Karamanians claimed to be Greek considering they are Christian, are the Christian Turkish who write, speak and pray in Turkish and have lived in Anatolia for centuries. It is known that the Pecheneks, Bulgarians and the Kuman/Kipchak Clan accepted the Christianity after they interacted with Byzantine from the 5th century on and lived in the lands of Byzantine. Even though Byzantine tried to take precautions against those crowded and diffusionist Turkish Clans such as letting them join the army as landrones, cooperate, placing them to border troops, their most effective policy was urging these clans join the Christianity. Even if the word Karamanian seems to include the natives living in the city Karaman and around, Karamanians appear to live in a very vast area including Anatolia, the Crimea, Balkans. They have never opposed to the Turkish States they depended, and they supported the Muslim Turkish during the Independence War of Turkey. They never hesiatated to reject the destructive aims of Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Key words: Orthodox Turkish, Karamanians, Christianity, Karamanian Language.
