Abstract (EN)
Introduction: It is well known that endothelial dysfunction, oxidative stress and increased inflammatory activity are involved in the pathophysiology of both coronary artery disease and cardiac remodeling. Identifying the variables associated with cardiac remodeling in patients with stable coronary artery disease may provide helpful information for primary prevention and in deciding whether to initiate medical treatment. In this study, we aimed to investigate hematological, biochemical and echocardiographic parameters that may be associated with cardiac remodeling in patients with stable coronary artery disease. Materials and Methods: Patients who visited the Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital Cardiology Department polyclinic between April 2021 and November 2021 with anginal symptoms were included in our study. Among the patients diagnosed with stable coronary artery disease, 129 patients were included in the sample population, following the inclusion and exclusion criteria. After obtaining detailed anamnesis and physical examination of the patients, routine hematological and biochemical parameters were recorded. Echocardiographic parameters of the patients were obtained with Philips Epiq 7C device using X5-1 (1-5 MHz) probe. Patients were grouped according to the LARS median value. Results: Compared with the supramedian LARS group, the inframedian LARS group showed significance for higher age, lower total bilirubin value, lower LV-GLS, higher LAVI, and longer TACT. In the correlation analysis, it was observed that LARS was remakable for negative correlation with age, LAVI and TACT, and positive correlation with total bilirubin and LV-GLS. In logistic regression analysis, it was observed that total bilirubin, LAVI and LV-GLS are independent predictors of LARS. Conclusion: In our study, we have observed that serum bilirubin, LV-GLS, and LAVI were independently associated with cardiac remodeling in patients with stable coronary artery disease. Prospective studies are needed to support the clinical significance of the findings in our study.
