Determination of the environmental noise level of Karasu city center

Nowadays, technology, industry, together with developments in Turkey and the increase in transport and in the world, an important environmental noise is an issue of life and health. It is possible to express the noise as an undesirable and unpleasant discomforting sound group that has negative effects on people. Noise maps are important data for urban plans in order to improve the quality of life of both natural resources and urban people, especially during the rapid urbanization process. Scope of work; Noise measurements were made for 12 months at 84 points identified in the main arteries providing access to highways in different uses such as housing, industry, trade, tourism center, green area and within the boundaries of Karasu Municipality. The aim of the study is to determine the regions of the city which exceed the permissible values of the noise and approach the permissible values as a result of the measurements carried out for twelve months within the boundary of the municipality, and to create noise maps according to the seasons. For this purpose, statistical analysis of the obtained noise values for seasons was performed. Noise measurements were carried out with Svantek 971 meter. The data obtained were interpolated by using Esri ArcGIS 10.1 software. As a result, the main reason of the noise is due to the neutrality, the noise exceeds the permissible values in the regions, which connects the districts on one of the Istanbul and Ankara Street was found.
