Abstract (EN)

One of the products of our oral culture, verbal duel is one of the most preeminent way for language and culture transmission. With the tradition of verbal duel, the language had the opportunity to prosper and flourish with various metaphors, figure of speech and rhetoric. It found its place not only in the traditional oral culture, but also in the written literature, though not frequently in the latter one. Thus, the rich linguistic presence it had was permanently recorded. The Kitâb-ı Garîb, which we examined in this study, is a work that reflects the tradition of verbal duel, a product of oral literature, to the written literature. While the verbal duels of the tradesmen are included in the work, the moral characteristics the professionals are expected to possess are also mentioned. Subject of this study is the work titled " Ottuz Ėkki Eŝnāfnıŋ Birbiri ile Gep Talaşḳanı " by the poet Garîbî from Kashgar, whose name is also mentioned as Turdî Nâzım and Turduş Ahun in the sources. The same work is also known as "Kitâb-ı Garîb" as named by the poet himself. This work, which was written by the poet Garîbî of Kashgar with the tradition of writing fütüvvetname (rules and regulations of turkish-islamic guild) and risale (a kind of pamphlet), is a mixed verse / prose work that deals with the verbal duel of thirty-two professionals. The printed work is in Arabic letters and without vowel points. The work was published in Shumen, Bulgaria in the year of H. 1257 (AD 1841-1842). Our study consists of the text transferred into the Latin alphabet, analysis and index sections. In the introduction part of our study, the poet's work titled "Ottuz Ėkki Eŝnāfnıŋ Birbiri İle Gep Talaşḳanı" was introduced by giving brief information about the poet Garîbî of Kashgar and his works. The work has been transferred to the Latin alphabet. In the text part of our thesis, work which is written in Latin letters is included. In the analysis part, the phonetic and morphological features of the work have been examined considering the phonetic and morphological features of Chagatay, Modern Uygur and Uzbek Turkish. In the index section of our study, meanings of native and foreign words in the text, the language to which the foreign words belong, the frequency of the words in the text and the suffixes they received are explained. In the last section, there is an additional index showing the suffixes brought to Turkish words and their frequency of use. With this study, it is aimed to shed light on the Kitâb-ı Garîb of the poet Garîbî of Kashgar, who authored a book in the field of Eastern Turkish by creating this work, and to contribute to the field by examining the language features of the work.
