Özet (EN)

Foreign Body Syndrome is among a kind of digestion system ilnesses that can commonly seen in the cattles in Turkey. It occurs due to animals? eating foreign bodies. Among these foreign bodies, especially the stinging ones can cause some complications that can result in death.By means of this study, insidence of foreign body and its complications were searched among the cattles in Kastamonu and raising the awareness of the owners of the animals and preventing the economical loses were aimed.Among 1994 cattles that were taken to the Kastamonu municipal slaughterhouse during the 15 June 2011-15 April 2012 between of the study, 1126 (% 56.4) were Simmental cattles, 402 (% 20.1) were Brown Swiss cattles, 355 were Holstein cattles which had black and white colour, 69 (% 3.4) were native animals, 28 (% 1.4) were Aberdeen Angus. Additionaly (% 0.9) percentage of the materials were respectively 7 Buffalo, 3 Hereford, 2 Charolais and 2 Red Pied. Out of these 1994 cattles that were examined, 1737 (% 87.2) were male and 257 (% 12.8) were female animals.In the study, out of the total cattles, there were 1530 (% 76.7) cattles that foreign bodies were identifed. It was seen that from among these foreign bodies, 33 (% 2.1) of them were sticked in rumen and reticulum mucous and among the remaining, 1497 (% 97.9) cattles they didn?t stick in rumen and reticulum.Foreign bodies and their numbers found in the materials are respectively recorded as following 1227 (% 80.2) sand and stone particles, 122 (% 8) magnet, 101 (% 6.6) wire, 49 (% 3.2) nails, 27 (% 1.7) nylon bag, rope ve rein, 4 (% 0.3) metal particles.
