Abstract (EN)

It is known that the history of weaving dates back to ancient times and emerged as a result of excavations and researches in the surface examinations. In this thesis, the changing and current status of the cloths woven in Kastamonu, are examined. In accordance with the social life conditions, it is unique to the region; shows differences in material, technique and form. The differences and changes in the materials used have been documents giving information about the traditional lives of the society, such as customs and traditions. The development of societies is related to the development of their cultural level. Survival and development of culture is possible if the people who make up that society protect their national values. One of the most important element, which is a bridge between the past and the future, is attire. Despite technological developments, fabrics woven on hand looms in Kastamonu are still worn as clothes today. In terms of the feature of linen fabric, it is to prepare designs suitable for human health and to bring traditional hand weavings to light with a sustainable fashion understanding. It is to reveal the unknown aspects of handcrafted clothes, which are a source of national wealth, and to ensure their sustainability by transferring them to future generations. Clothing is people's way of the expressing themselves.
