Evaluation of copper slags from Kastamonu-Küre

This study was carried out to evaluate copper slags and to remove Se,Te,Sb and As from Cupper ores.In the first part of the study, the slag, Pyrite and concantrated Copper optained from Kastamonu-Küre were used. These samples sieved until they became less than -100 mesh. After analisis the samples, it was found that the slag sample contained % 1,00 ± 0,05 Cu2+, % 0,30 ± 0,02 Co2+ , % 26,65 ± 0,50 Fe and % 1,10 ± 0,10 S; The pyrite sample contained % 0,25 ± 0,01 Cu2+, % 0,23 ± 0,01 Co2+ , % 43,00 ± 0,50 Fe and % 50,10 ± 0,50 S and concantrated copper contained % 18,25 ± 0,25 Cu2+, % 0,106 ± 0,001 Co2+ , % 30,00 ± 0,40 Fe and % 42,50 ± 0,50 S.In order to recover copper and cobalt from the copper slags, a homogeneous mixture optained by taking certain ratios from the slags/pyrite/concantrated copper was first roasted in a closed system. Samples of on graunds taken from these roasted samples were roasted at 600 oC in open air and than copper and cobalt were taken in to a solition. A duble mixture composed of only slag and pyrite was first roasted in a closed medium and than roasted at 600 oC in open air, but copper and cobalt were not taken in to the solition at a satisfactory level. Thus a homogeneous triple mixture was optained by adding concantrated copper in to the salg and pyrite mixture in ceratain ratios. From this triple homogeneous mixtures, the one whose copper contined was 8,1 % was taken in to the solition in 99,6 % and 98,4 % yields for Cu and Co respectively, after making neccesery prosess and roastings.In the second part of the study, it was tried to remove Se, Te,Sb and As present in the triple mixture, analysis has showen that the slag contained ; 12,82 ppm Te, 5,92 ppm Sb, 41,33 ppm As and % 1,1 S the pyrite concantrated; 25,76 ppm Se, 26,26 ppm Te, 12,87 ppm Sb, % , 0,086 As and % 50,10 S; copper concantrated 50,2 ppm Se, 20,60 ppm Te, 13,27 ppm Sb, % 0,079 As ve % 42,50 S. It was seen that Se, Te, Sb and As were not separeted form the sample at a satisfactory level by rosting the triple of mixture by rosting the triple mixture in closed medium. In order to achive the satisfactory level, Fe powder was added in to the triple mixture in certain ratios and it was observed that Se, Te, Sb and As removed from dhe ores in high levels by adding 2,2 g of Fe powder. Under these circumstances, it was found that copper and cobalt were also taken in to the solitinon in higher yields.In the final part Se, Te, Sb and As werw try to seperated from each other in the sample removed from the ore and containig this element analysis has showed the sample contains 1865 ppm Se,670 ppm Te, 302 ppm Sb and 7,1 % As
