Abstract (EN)
Earthquakes, which are one of the natural disasters, affect human life directly or indirectly. Earthquakes can occur at certain time intervals throughout history. In addition, earthquakes are natural events that we cannot predict the time and date of occurrence. Since Turkey is located on an active earthquake zone due to its geographical location, it is exposed to earthquake movements. As a result of the earthquake disasters that have occurred recently in our country, there have been a lot of losses of life and property. The damages caused as a result of these losses experienced on a large scale have caused great damage to the country's economy. We see many examples of this as a result of earthquakes experienced. In particular, we can give the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes as an example. Within the scope of this study, time history analysis of residential type reinforced concrete buildings with different story numbers (3, 5, 7 and 9) were carried by taking into Turkish Building Earthquake Code (TBEC-2018). Based on 7 type of story plan, a total of 28 type of model were designed by changing the numbers of story and the layout of the shear elements and their effect on torsional behavior were examined. The buildings examined have a shear wall + frame system. ETABS finite element program is used in the design and analysis of buildings. Rigid diaphragm is defined to all stories. While designing column and beam elements, they were accepted as rod elements. In the analysis, by using the acceleration records of the 1999 Kocaeli earthquake is applied to all buildings in x and y directions. In addition, the change of the period values obtained as a result of the analysis performed according to the number of stories was examined. It has been concluded that as the number of story increases, the period values increase. When the period values of 7 type of structure were examined, it was seen that the highest period values were in the Type-1 building with the least number of shear. When the torsion irregularity coefficient values obtained are taken into consideration, it has been seen that the building type giving the lowest values is the Type-2, 7-storey building model, while the building type giving the highest values is the Type-1, 3-storey building model. As a result, it has been determined that the type of building with the most suitable plan in terms of torsional behavior is the Type-2, 7-storey building model. It has been determined that the most negative building type in terms of torsional behavior is the Type-1, 3-storey building model.
