Abstract (EN)

?Concept Maps? is a visual method that has a wide usage field in learning and teaching activities. Joseph Novak first introduced this important method through the light of learning method of Ausubel. People use various ways for communication such as natural languages (speaking-writing), music, pictures, drawings. However concept maps are a graphical way of information transfer. Concept maps which have a wide range of usage as a teaching ?learning method can also be used to determine the conceptional mistakes. The question which forms the problematic sentence is that if there is an effect of the method of concept map on students? learning level in teaching physics . The aim of the resarch being based on that problematic sentence is that the influence over learning level of students was searched. in teaching physics according to concept map . Resarch was applied to 50 students attending Mecidiyeköy High School 3.grade educational year of 2006-2007 in İstanbul?s Şişli town. In the resarch, the subject of optic circular was taught to the students of 11 Science A by using concept map method besides conventional method where as the same subject was taught to the students of 11 Science B were taught bye conventional method (plain informing method) in the lesson. In the resarch, the evaluation of data was made in the computer medium by using T-Test, Paired Sample TTest in SPSS statistics program. At the end of the resarch; it was surveyed that the academic success of students who are taught by using the method of concept maps along with conventional method are higher than the students who are taught by using conventional method
