A research on the development of qualified line in melon

Abstract (EN)
In this research, which was carried out to develop qualified lines in the research and application land of Akdeniz University Faculty of Agriculture, 61 genotypes of Casaba and Galia melon types in the F3 stage with 4 Galia and 8 Kırkağaç type melon varieties as control varieties were used. During the research period, according to the UPOV criteria; emergence rate (%), seedling thickness (mm), seedling height (cm), number of leaves (piece/plant), hypocotyls length (cm) and cotyledon length (cm), in plants; main stem thickness (mm), internodes length (cm), plant vigour, in leaves; leaf shape, leaf colour, leaf lobule, leaf blade length (cm), leaf blade width (cm), petiole length (cm), petiole thickness (mm), petiole hairiness and leaf margin tooting, in flowers; female bloom time, earliness in female flower, flower type and flower colour, fruit; fruit size (g), fruit corrugation, fruit seal, fruit ground colour, secondary fruit skin colour, fruit surface, fruit stem rupture, fruit flesh colour, fruit skin colour (L, C, H), fruit flesh colour (L, C, H), flower scar shape, fruit shape, fruit skin thickness (mm), fruit stem length (mm), fruit stem thickness (mm), fruit length (cm), fruit width (mm), fruit flesh thickness (mm), seed house diameter (mm), fruit firmness (kg/cm2), in fruit juices; SÇKM (%) and pH in seeds; 1000 grain weight (g), seed width (mm), seed length (mm) measurements and observations were examined. In terms of seedling height, leaf number, hypocotyl length, cotyledon length and seedling thickness, the highest values were found in Galia type in H-29, EZ-18, H-32, EZ-10 genotypes, respectively. In Casaba type, these values were determined in EL-28, EL-28, TON-19, HNF-8 and AY-18 genotypes. The highest fruit weight was determined in control variety Gediz F1 in Galia melons, and in control variety Sükrübey F1 in Casaba melons. In Galia melons, the highest soluble solid was measured in Cıtırex F1 variety, while in Casaba melons the highest soluble solid was determined in Brawos F1 variety.
