Investigation of sports commitment and excitement seeking levels of ski jumping and skiing athletes

The aim of this study was to examine the levels of commitment to sports and commitment to the goal in ski athletes. A total of 232 ski athletes with an average age of 20.99±5.49 years, an average height of 169.35±16.97 cm, and an average body weight of 64.40±13.27 kg participated in the study. Participant personal information form was used to determine the personal characteristics specific to the athletes included in the study. ''Goal Commitment Scale in Sports'' was used to determine the level of commitment of the athletes to the goal. ''Sport Commitment Scale (SCS)'' was used to determine the level of commitment of the athletes to the sport. When the research findings were examined, it was seen that the levels of commitment to the goal differed significantly according to the gender variable (p<0.05), while it was determined that there was no significant difference in terms of gender variable in terms of all sub-dimensions of commitment to the sport (p>0.05). In addition, while it was determined that there was no significant difference in terms of branches in the goal commitment variable (p>0.05), it was determined that there was a significant difference in terms of branches in the internalization variable, one of the sub dimensions of the sports commitment scale (p<0.05). It was determined that there was a positive and highly significant relationship between the goal commitment status and the internalization, one of the sub-dimensions of commitment to the sport (p<0.05). As a result, the more ski athletes internalize and embrace their sport, the more their commitment to the goals related to the sport increases. Keywords: Skiing, Commitment to Sport, Commitment to Goa
