Values education in general high school curriculums with regard to achievements and subject evaluations

The notion of value comes at the forefront of concepts that have come to foreground in education in recent years. Without this doubt, very rapid social transformations that took place in the period we were living in became influential. Every society is in an effort to transmit its own culture and traditions to the generations that grow to maintain their existence. The most concrete example of the efforts we have made to protect the culture and maintain traditions of societies in the period we live and pass them on to future generations is value education. As a reflection of these efforts, in our country, the transfer of values in curriculums prepared after 2005 is one of the main objectives of Ministry of National Education. In our study which focuses on examining the achievements of general high school curriculums prepared in line with these goals in terms of value education, all general high school curriculums were tried to be examined. In the first part of our work, the concept of value is explained after focusing on the subject, scope and importance, and the classification of values will be used in the second part is emphasized. In addition to these, information about character education, value education in family, school or media is given and values education approach is emphasized. In the second part which constitutes the main part of our work, all the achievements of the general high school curriculum are examined and interpreted in terms of value education and achievements that are appropriate for the value education are presented in the form of tables. In the conclusion of our study, the findings we obtained were interpreted in general view and recommendations were made on the results.
