Abstract (EN)

History is like a road map showing the relations between the past and present of a nation. Cyprus, which is located in the middle of Asia, Europe and Africa and is the third largest island of the Mediterranean Sea, has not lacked inter-state competition and political superiority struggles throughout history due to its special location and trade routes. The Cyprus Island, which is an extension of the Anatolian lands in terms of geography, has found its longest and stable rule with the Ottoman rule that began in 1571 after entering the domination of Egypt, Hittite, Phoenician, Assyrian, Persian, Roman, Byzantine, Templar Knights, Lusignans and Venice respectively. With the renting of Cyprus to England in 1878, social unrest on the island gained momentum. With the British decision to withdraw from the island in the 1950s, the Cyprus issue became the focus of Turkish foreign policy as a milestone and a vital issue. Although the Greek Cypriots' attempts to intimidate the Turks to connect the island to Greece and their bloody actions were tried to be solved with the State of the Republic of Cyprus established in 1960 based on the Zurich and London Treaties, they failed. guarantees such as Greece and England title with Turkey, based on the right authority to ensure the security of the Turkish Cypriots, with the contribution of Mersin, Cyprus Veterans, 1974, the island held by two Peace Operation, has resulted in the island's division into two. The Turkish Federated State of Cyprus, established in 1975, was renamed the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 1983 and gained its present status.
